Verdict: the print-on-demand service to use when consistency matters more than the lowest base price.

What it does

Printful prints and ships custom products (apparel, posters, mugs, embroidery, and about 580 other items) one order at a time, from its own facilities in the US, Europe, and partner sites elsewhere. You connect a store, upload designs, push products, and Printful handles production, packing, and shipping under your brand. There is no inventory and no minimum.

For an Amazon seller it is the lowest-risk way to test a brand extension: a line of apparel for an existing audience, a poster that complements a physical product, a merch tier for a loyal customer list. The integrations with Shopify, Etsy, TikTok Shop, and Amazon are mature, and the Design Maker and mockup generator cover the listing images.

Pricing (checked 20 October 2026)

  • Free: $0/mo, full catalog, unlimited stores, Design Maker, 20% off samples. You pay only the product and shipping cost per order.
  • Growth: $24.99/mo, up to 33% off product prices, 9% off branding services, 25% off samples, and larger print areas. Printful waives the fee once you pass $12,000 in sales over twelve months.
  • Enterprise: custom, with a managed store and success manager.

There is a 14-day free trial of Growth. No annual Growth price is shown.

Who it is for

Brands that care about repeatable quality and are willing to pay slightly more per unit for it. Printful owns its production, so the mug you ordered in March looks like the one in October. That consistency is what you are paying for.

Who should skip it

Anyone chasing the lowest unit cost. Printify’s provider network is often cheaper on identical blanks, and if margin per unit is the only variable, go there. Also skip Printful if you have no audience yet; print-on-demand does not create demand, it only fulfills it.

Runs our store

Printful is part of our stack for the print products we sell off Amazon. The rule we follow: the Growth fee is only worth paying in a month where the product discount beats $24.99, and the free plan covers the rest.

The honest caveats

Base prices are higher than the competition, and shipping on a single lightweight item can feel steep. Production times stretch during the holiday peak. And because Printful is a fulfillment partner, not a marketplace, it will not solve a traffic problem.

Bottom line

Start free, order samples of anything you plan to sell, and turn on Growth only once the monthly discount beats the fee.
