Verdict: the tracking layer worth adding the day your Shopify or Etsy store starts getting “where is my order” emails.

What it does

AfterShip pulls tracking numbers from your store, detects the carrier, and gives customers a branded tracking page plus email and SMS updates at each delivery stage. For you, it is a dashboard of every shipment in transit with exceptions flagged, which is how you find the parcel stuck at a sorting facility before the customer does. Premium adds a custom domain, AI-estimated delivery dates, analytics by carrier, and API access.

It does not touch orders Amazon ships to Amazon customers; Amazon handles those. It is for the channels where you are the merchant of record, including off-Amazon orders you fill from FBA stock through Multi-Channel Fulfillment, whose tracking its Seller Central app imports.

Pricing (checked 20 October 2026)

AfterShip rebuilt its tiers in 2026, so most third-party price lists are stale.

  • Free: a small monthly shipment allowance (vendor page does not print it; third parties say 50).
  • Essentials: $29/mo on the annual plan (6,000 shipments a year), or $35/mo billed monthly (500 shipments a month). Overage 8 cents per shipment. Branded tracking page, notifications, dashboard.
  • Premium: $59/mo annual or $70/mo monthly at the same quotas. Overage 12 cents. Custom domain, AI delivery estimates, API and webhooks.
  • Enterprise: custom.

Prices climb with the shipment slider; the figures above are the entry points. Extra team seats are $10 to $12 per member.

Who it is for

Sellers shipping a few hundred off-Amazon orders a month who want to cut support email and get a branded post-purchase touchpoint for free. The tracking page is also a quiet upsell surface.

Who should skip it

Amazon-only sellers; there is nothing here for you. Shopify stores under about fifty orders a month can live on Shopify’s native tracking or the free plan.

Runs our store

AfterShip tracks the orders from our own storefronts. The exception view is the feature that matters: it is how you learn about a lost parcel before a one-star review does.

The honest caveats

The 2025 and 2026 repricing moved the entry point up sharply (Essentials was a promotional $11 not long ago). Quotas are now annual on the annual plan, which is friendlier to seasonal sellers but harder to compare. SMS costs extra.

Bottom line

Start on Free, upgrade to Essentials when the shipment cap bites. We have no affiliate link; the vendor link is below.
