What it does

Fiverr sells services as fixed-price “gigs”: a listing rewrite, a set of infographic images, a video edit, a product render, a logo, a translated listing for the German marketplace. You pick a seller by portfolio and reviews, pay up front into escrow, and get a deliverable with a set number of revisions. Fiverr Pro is the vetted tier with team tools for businesses.

• Buyer accounts are free.
• Buyer service fee: 5.5% of the order, plus $3.50 on orders under $200.
• Fiverr Pro: Essential is free; Advanced is $129/mo for team management, compliance, and invoice reporting.
• Sellers pay a 20% commission, which is already baked into gig prices.

Who it is for

Sellers with a specific, describable task and a budget under a few hundred dollars. The best Fiverr outcomes come from briefs that read like a spec: the exact pixel sizes, the reference listings, the claims that may and may not appear.

Who should skip it

Anyone who needs a person to understand their business over time. For a VA, a bookkeeper, or a PPC manager, use Upwork, where contracts are ongoing and hourly. Also skip Fiverr for anything compliance-sensitive unless you will review every word; a cheap gig will happily write claims that get a listing suppressed.

Fiverr is where we send the defined jobs: image edits, a quick video cut, a translation. The pattern that works is to run the same small job past three sellers, keep the best one, and rebook that person directly.

The honest caveats

Quality variance is the whole story. The buyer fee on small orders is steep in percentage terms. And “unlimited revisions” in a gig description means the seller will argue about what counts as a revision.
