Verdict: a real second marketplace for products that demonstrate well on video, and a time sink for products that do not.

What it does

TikTok Shop lets you list products inside TikTok, where they can be sold from the Shop tab, from your own videos, from live streams, and, most importantly, from videos made by creators who earn a commission you set. Orders come through TikTok’s checkout; you ship them yourself, through a 3PL, through Fulfilled by TikTok, or from your FBA stock via Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment and one of TikTok’s approved connector apps. For an Amazon seller, the attraction is simple: it is the one channel where creator content converts directly instead of sending traffic to a listing.

Fees (checked 20 October 2026, US)

There is no monthly fee and no listing fee.

  • Referral fee: 6% of the order on most categories, per TikTok’s published category table. Several third-party sources report an increase to 8% for most categories from August 2026; we could not confirm that on a TikTok-published page, so check your category in Seller Center.
  • New-seller promotion: 3% referral fee for the first 30 days if your first sale lands within 60 days of onboarding.
  • Creator commission: set by you, typically 10% to 20%, paid only on sales a creator drives.
  • No separate payment-processing fee is listed.

Add the creator commission to the referral fee and the real take rate on affiliate-driven sales is often above Amazon’s 15%. Price for it.

Who it is for

Brands with a product that explains itself in fifteen seconds: a before-and-after, a satisfying demonstration, a problem everyone recognizes. Those sellers find creators quickly and the channel compounds. Brand-registered Amazon sellers also benefit indirectly, because TikTok content spills over into Amazon search.

Who should skip it

Sellers with commodity products, thin margins, or no appetite for fulfillment outside FBA. The operational overhead (separate orders, separate returns, separate customer messages) is real, and a shop with no creator content just sits there.

Runs our store

TikTok Shop is one of our channels, and the lesson is the one above: the fee structure is fine, the creator commission is the real cost, and the products that work are the ones that work on camera. The same creators who make our Amazon content list our products in their TikTok showcases.

The honest caveats

Policy and fee changes arrive with little notice. Seller support is thin. Returns are more generous to buyers than Amazon’s. And the shop’s performance is tied to the algorithm’s mood in a way an Amazon listing is not.

Bottom line

Open the shop if your product demos well; otherwise, keep sending creator traffic to Amazon with attribution links and revisit in a year.
