Verdict: not the best accounting software, but the one every US ecommerce accountant speaks fluently, which matters more.
What it does
QuickBooks Online is general-purpose small-business accounting: bank feeds, categorization, invoicing, bills, reports, and tax-ready financials. It does nothing Amazon-specific on its own. What makes it the seller default is the ecosystem: ConnectBooks, A2X, and Link My Books all post Amazon settlements into it, and nearly every ecommerce bookkeeper and CPA in the US works in it daily.
Pricing (checked 20 October 2026, US)
Monthly billing only. Intuit runs a rolling promotion of 50% off for the first three months, or you can take a 30-day free trial instead; you cannot have both.
- Free: $0/mo, 1 user, no accountant access. New, and too limited for a real store.
- Simple Start: $38/mo, 1 user. Income and expenses, invoicing, basic reports.
- Essentials: $85/mo, 3 users. Adds bill management and multi-currency.
- Plus: $140/mo, 5 users. Adds inventory tracking and project profitability. This is the tier an FBA seller with cost of goods needs.
- Advanced: $340/mo, 25 users.
List prices have risen again this year (Plus was $99 in 2024).
Who it is for
US-based sellers who want an accountant to be able to pick up the books without a conversation about software. Pick Plus if you track inventory in QuickBooks itself, Essentials if a tool like ConnectBooks carries the inventory and QuickBooks only needs the journal entries.
Who should skip it
Sellers outside the US, where Xero is often cheaper and better supported, and solo sellers whose bookkeeping is simple enough that a spreadsheet and a year-end accountant get the job done. Also skip the Free tier for anything beyond a hobby.

QuickBooks Online is our ledger, with settlements arriving from ConnectBooks and bank feeds handling the rest. We would not describe it as a pleasure to use, but it has never been the bottleneck.
The honest caveats
Price increases are annual and unapologetic. The built-in inventory module is weak for FBA (it does not understand Amazon’s warehouse movements), so plan on a sync tool. And the promo price ends abruptly at month four.
Bottom line
Choose the plan by who else needs to touch the books. If a sync tool and an accountant are involved, Essentials is usually enough. There is no affiliate link here; the link below goes to Intuit.
